New Series… Help Me Name It, Please.

Quick side note: If you read my posts with any regularity, you know that the irregularity of my posts is an issue for me and you know that the issue would be resolved if I posted more frequently (and more significantly). Well, I’m posting today to let you know that I may have a way to reach that resolution and I’m both excited and a little squeamish over the idea behind it. The squeamish part is just about knowing that once I post my big idea I’ll be responsible for its execution. A week ago I wouldn’t have been as confident (although still queasy) about that responsibility as I am today. But a week ago I didn’t have a blog-buddy (or two) to back me up. Now that I’m buddied up, I’m certain that my uneasy feeling will go away once I actually spill the beans on my idea, so what am I waiting for?

I’m so glad Wednesday has finally come around again! Today is the day I’ve decided to launch a project series as part of the repurposedKATE experience. The series will focus on decluttering and repurposing my personal environment twice a week and just so I can’t be the only one having all the fun, I’m going to make it a meme… That means you get to play along! {Raises hand over head and squeals “wheeeeee” Gieco piggy style…} Not only do you get to play along, but you get to help me name it because I’m kinda blocked on coming up with a catchy moniker for this twice-weekly clutter and purpose meme-thing. But I should tell you how it works first, huh?

Okay, the meme goes like this:

  • Every Wednesday (like today) I’ll post an image of some physical part of my life that has become cluttered or is not being used for its intended purpose and explain what’s not right about the area and how I would like to rediscover a valid purpose for the subject at hand.
  • That’s all I have to do on Wednesday to participate in the meme.
  • Part three comes in on Monday. I know I skipped part two, but I only did that because the next part that involves the blog is part three. For part three, I’ll post another picture of the same physical part of my life I posted on the previous Wednesday (along with the original image I posted on hump day). The Monday image will (fingers crossed) show how I’ve used at least some part of the four days in between to clear out the clutter and restore honorable purpose to that corner of my world. (

That’s about it for my part of the series, but it isn’t a meme without your part. Here’s what you’ll do to play along (and get in on some friendly link-swapping and shameless self-promotion): On Wednesday, post a pic of some little area of your world that needs a little TLC on your blog and post a link to it in the comments of the meme post on this blog. Then take four days to transform your problem area and do the same on Monday (post on your site & link to your post in the comments on my site) so we call all ooooh and ahhhh over your amazing transformation. Piece of cake and you’ll get a confidence boost to boot!

I’ll go ahead and start the part off right now… Well, I’ll start it in about 10 minutes with a fresh post.

Comments are open to everyone to post ideas for the name (or whatever you want to say about this idea). I’m linking this post to 100things100days, Not Messy, Restitch Me, Home Sweet Here and my Blog Buddies Janey’s Room and (from the BlogSpot universe) Minimalism Journey because each of these blogs has contributed to the inspiration of this series (and hoping for some help naming it).

    • Tuesday? Now we’re up to a full week… You’re headed in the right direction, though… I had thought about “WTF Is This Mess Wednesday” abbreviated to “WTF Wednesday” but couldn’t come up with an equally tacky name for the Monday follow up…

    • Welcome! I’m sorry that the welcome wagon seems to be in the shop this week, but I am so excited to have you here! I’m looking forward to getting to know you and watching you knock out those nagging projects that drove you here in the first place. I think my friend over at Home Sweet Here says: we well get there and it will be wonderful!

    • I’m so happy to have you playing along with us (even though it looks like I’m not playing this week– I am! I am!)! I’m looking forward to the results of your project(S)!
